The pope wants to make the internet safe for children
Pope Francis I is visiting Lisbon from August 2nd to 6th. Over the past few years, His Holiness has been outspoken in his belief that tech companies are responsible for child safety — and now, we want to bring his support into the spotlight!
At the Justice Initiative, we have seen the profound impact that sexual violence and abuse have on the lives of children. The issue is only growing and if we don’t work together to demand that the European Union votes in favour of the EU proposal to better prevent and combat child sexual abuse online, it could be too late.
Our demands:
By signing our petition in support of the current EU proposal to better prevent and combat child sexual abuse, you support measures including:
- Imposing obligations on online service providers, including social media platforms, to prevent, detect and report child sexual abuse taking place on their services, and remove child sexual abuse material
- Strengthening the fight against child sexual abuse across the Europe
- Ensuring the necessary support and justice for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse
543,531 have signed to make the internet safe for kids and end child sexual abuse in the EU.
